WILD GOOSE FARM

Dear Wild Goose Farm Members,

We’d like to thank everyone who supported the second full year of learning, playing and growing at Wild Goose Farm. Thanks to your support, we managed to pull off a number of varied and interesting activities – classes, performances, workshops, building projects,  and Theater/Art/Food week.  We feel honored to have the opportunity to do this work together and to get to know so many people willing to take steps to make our world better. So thanks to you all.  Look below for a list of the twenty events we created together in 2016.

For the upcoming year, we plan to focus our energy on the remaining work we need to do to upgrade and expand our gathering and growing spaces in order to enable us to offer learning and community building opportunities beyond what we are presently able to offer.

We will host a number of community events including our sing-alongs, continue with our green building projects and devote some efforts to supporting local political activism in order to respond to the very regressive and damaging political agenda that threatens our planet and further tears our social fabric.

In addition to Youth Theatre, Art, Food Week, our other big summer event, in early June, will be a two day event entitled Beyond Recycling: Building Sustainable Solutions.  Workshop participants from near and far will gather to create and display a number of simple, affordable and regenerative solutions for growing nutritious food, using water and energy wisely and living better at the same time as we continue to move into a post-carbon future.

We will continue to provide opportunities for members to organize and host gatherings, classes, meetings and events that support the mission of the farm.  We will also provide a limited number of hands-on learning opportunities for college-aged students and community groups to deepening their awareness of sustainable living.

Your membership dues will contribute to the operating costs of hosting these activities (these include liability insurance, building maintenance, event supplies, setup and cleanup, utilities, and outreach - posters, signs, web and email account fees).  (Just use the membership page.)  Your support will help us continue to make these learning opportunities and associated community events available to our community.

If you would like to help out with our expansion this year, we’d appreciate any opportunity to connect and work together on green projects. These may include building  (completing the micro shelter, insulating meeting spaces, installing grey water systems, fruit tree netting structures ) or growing (constructing swales, installing drip irrigation systems, building mushroom beds, planting fruit forest guilds and deep mulching). We’ll share what we’ve learned, learn from you, and create a demonstration site for others to learn from.  Just email to let us know where your passions lie and what day of the week is generally best for you and we’ll be in touch.

Of course, your friends and family members are always welcome to attend any of our events.   We will offer eggs and a few other products at member discounted rates.  Thanks again for supporting this innovative and forward-looking project. We hope, like us, it gives you a bit of hope that we can continue to find ways to regenerate our world even in these politically, socially and economically challenging times.

With much love,

Kathy, Dave, Emma, Rudy
