Welcome, August! Hello, September!

Early summer was a flurry of activity. Dave's unexpected hip surgery caught us by surprise. It was a non stop few months with Dave's recovery, events at the farm, the academic year to wrap up, homeschooling evaluations to be done, and taking care of the garden. We couldn't have done it without the love and support of friends, family, and farm members. Thanks to all who helped with events, brought us a meal, drove our kids to rehearsals or sports events and sent well wishes. We love the community of the farm and all that has grown from it. You have reminded us once again that many hands do make lighter work and it is much more fun. The fall schedule of events at the farm will be up on our website this week. Looking ahead spring of 2017 we will host a Building Sustainable Solutions weekend where we will play and learn together how to build a simple solar hot water system for space and water heating, a drip irrigation system using rain barrels, a simple vermicomposting unit and how to erect simple hoop houses to extend the growing season. Stay tuned for more details. There will only be 20 spaces and it is sure to be a good one.
